Md. Omar Faruk Khan, the Managing Director of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC (IBBPLC), has been serving with unwavering dedication and commitment to advancing Islamic Banking and contributing to the National Economy. Previously, he held the position of Additional Managing Director of the Bank and also assumed the Acting Managing Director of NRB Bank PLC.

An expert banker having nearly four decades’ career, Mr. Khan led in various positions as the Head of Business, Operations, International Banking, Treasury along with different Wings and Divisions at the Head Office as well as the Head of Zone and Branches including Local Office-the Largest Operational Unit of the Bank.

Mr. Khan joined Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC in 1986 after completing his Post-Graduation in Sociology from the University of Dhaka. He awarded Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) by ‘The London Institute of Banking & Finance (LIBF)’ affiliated with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). He is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers Bangladesh and holds an Islamic Banking Diploma from Islami Bank Training & Research Academy (IBTRA). He is a resource person in various academic training institutes including Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM), Bangladesh Association of Bankers (BAB), Central Shari’ah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh (CSBIBB) and Islami Bank Consultative Forum (IBCF).

With specialized proficiency in International Trade Services, he has made significant contributions to advancing trade knowledge within IBBPLC and the wider banking industry in Bangladesh. His professional and leadership experience is further enriched through participation in various National and International training programs, seminars, and visits to countries such as China, Germany, France, Singapore, India, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Malaysia, Netherland, Hong Kong, Thailand, the U.A. E, Qatar & Nepal. He was born in 1963 at Laxmipur.

He has played a pivotal role in achieving the Bank's organizational objectives, demonstrating strong leadership and a commitment to excellence. His expertise in Investment and International Trade equips him to navigate challenges effectively and explore new business opportunities in the banking industry.

Mr. Khan possesses with strong belief in ethical values and a positive mindset to build up the Islamic Banking Industry in particular on a strong footing by utilizing his experience and expertise to ensure Maqasid-al-Shari’ah.
