SENIOR EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

Md. Shamsud Doha, Senior Executive Vice President is the head of Shari’ah Secretariat of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC. He started his career with Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC in 1997 as Senior Officer (Muraqib). During his long 26 years career, he has been serving as Shari’ah Muraqib and head of different departments of Shari’ah Secretariat. Since 2021 he has been leading Shari’ah Secretariat.

He completed B.S.S. (Hons) and M.S.S. in International Relations from the University of Dhaka. He also obtained Kamil (Master’s) degree in Hadith and Tafser respectively form Govt. Madrasa-e-Aliah, Dhaka. He has another Majisteer (Master’s) in Higher Islamic Learning in exclusive Arabic Medium (similar to a 2 years’ Masters Course of Al-Azhar University of Egypt). He obtained Certified Shari’ah Advisor and Auditor (CSAA), a professional fellowship in Shari’ah Advisory and Shari’ah Auditing offered by Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI, Bahrain).

Mr. Doha has taken part a good number of trainings/workshops/seminars in Islamic Banking & Finance. Some of them are: Investment Operations and Management, Global Economy-Business & Industrial Awareness, Product Innovations in Banking: Status and Challenges, Workshop on Shariah Audit for Islamic Finance organized by CERT, Malaysia, Workshop on Islamic Banking Product Development, organized by IFC-SEDF, World Bank, Development of Liquidity Management Instruments for the Islamic Banks in Bangladesh, and Liquidity Management Tools for Islamic Financial Institutions organized by CIBAFI.

He has also taken part in some international conferences in different countries like AAOIFI Annual Shari'ah Boards Conference in Bahrain and International Conference on Problem of Muslim Youth in the Age of Globalization in KSA.

Mr. Doha has also been contributing as a resource person in various training session/workshop on Islamic Banking and Finance organized by the different training institutions in the country. 

He wrote some books on Islamic banking such as Islami Banking somporke bohul Prachalito Bhul Dharona (Misconception about Islamic Banking), Islami Banker Biniog Padhati: Shariahar nitimala (Investment Modes of Islamic Banking: Shariah Principles), Islami Banking: Noton Product Noton Bhabna (Islamic Banking: New Product New Thoughts), and Islami Banking e Murabaha Biniog: Proyog O Bastobota (Murabaha Investment Mode in Islamic Banking: Application & Reality – translated from Arabic to Bangali).
