Md. Altaf Hossain, Additional Managing Director, an experienced Banker and dynamic leader is now the Head of Operations of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (having portfolio of; Operations Wing, Development Wing, Information & Communication Technology Wing, Alternative Banking Wing, Financial Administration Division, Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing Prevention Division).

Before assuming the present post (Head of operations of IBBL), he earlier performed his assignments as Deputy Managing Director (Investment), Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Head of Investment Management Wing (IMW), Head of the largest Zone of the Bank-Dhaka Central Zone, Head of the Corporate Investment Division-II, and Head of the SME Investment Division-II. He played pioneering role in formulation of SME Policies & Guidelines. He served as SME Focal Person of the Bank for a longer term. He also contributed immensely while working at the Rural Development Division (RDD) of the Bank. Wherever he was posted, he left marks of success in his banking career. Meanwhile he proved himself as a seasoned banker.

All through his more than two decades of vibrant and versatile banking career, he mounted up vast banking experience in almost all areas of banking particularly in Islamic Banking, Forex. & Trade, General Banking, Investment & recovery.

He is the Chairman of Investment Committee (IC-II), Purchase Committee. He is also the member of Management Committee (MANCOM), Asset Liability Committee (ALCO).

Joining IBBL as a “Vice President” he started his banking career in the year-2004. Prior to joining the Bank, he served different local as well as multi-national companies e.g. BRAC, MIDAS, SEDF, Grameen Fund etc. for a period of long 20 years holding key positions. He underwent several training programmes offered by reputed organizations of home and abroad namely FBCCI, BBTA, BIBM, SEDF, ICCB, IFC, DCCI, CRISL etc. He also participated in different training courses on Banking/ Economics in Malaysia, the United Kingdom and France.

Janab Md. Altaf Hossain born in a traditional Muslim family of Mathbaria, Pirojpur. During his entire academic life he always showed extra-ordinary feat. Lastly he obtained prestigious MBA degree (major-Finance) from Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Dhaka University in the year-1988.

He is highly committed, decent, energetic dynamic banker especially in exploring business opportunities and having more expertise in Investment, International Trade & capability to face the challenges in banking industry as well.
