The ‘Annual Business and Development Conference 2010’ of Comilla and Sylhet Zone of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited was held on 10 January 2010, Sunday at the BARD auditorium of Comilla. Engr. Eskander Ali Khan, Chairman, Executive Committee of the Bank attended the Conference as the Chief Guest. Presided over by M. Fariduddin Ahmad, Managing Director of the Bank, the program was attended by Dr. Md. Shafiqur Rahman, Director, of the Bank as Special Guest. The program was addressed by Dr. Md. Manzur-e-Elahi, Member, Shari‘ah Council of the Bank and Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Deputy Managing Director of the Bank. Zonal Heads of Comilla and Sylhet, all branch Managers and Incharges of SME service Centres of the Bank were present in the conference.

Engr. Md. Eskander Ali Khan in his speech as Chief Guest said not only the rich but the poor people will also get investment of the Bank. He emphasized on enhancement of investment in agriculture and SMEs.

He said that considering the importance of social responsibilities of the Banks, IBBL has adopted Rural Development Shcheme much earlier. He emphasized on skillness of the Executives in the market of competition. He called upon the Managers for diversification of investment to continue the progress of the Bank.

Dr. Md. Shafiqur Rahman explained the causes of the global recession and added that only Islamic Banks & financial Institutions could escape this attack for following Islamic Shari‘ah. He advised all to be sincere for attaining the success of Islamic economy to all sphere of the society. He urged all to turn IBBL a Model Bank by excelling professional skills, quality and knowledge.

Mohammad Abdul Mannan in his speech advised all to work actively for collecting overdues, Classified Investments and reschedule of investment in due time. He called upon all to be strict on honesty, skillness and Islamic Shari‘ah

M. Fariduddin Ahmad in his presidential speech asked all to ensure best quality client service by developing ability, professional exellence. He called upon all to be more interactive to minimize the overdues and classified investments. He said that we have to ensure the justice of Islam by spreading money in all sectors of the society through diversification of investment.
