Raozan Branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited was inaugurated as its 210th Branch at Chowdhury Market, Fakirhat, Raozan, Chittagong on Sunday, November 22, 2009. Engr. Muhammad Dawood Khan, Director of the Bank inaugurated the Branch as Chief Guest. Presided over by Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Deputy Managing Director & Head of Investment Wing of the Bank, the program was addressed by Abul Hossain, Executive Vice President and Head of Chittagong Zone of the Bank and Sheikh Md. Omar Manager of the Branch. S.M. Taslim Uddin and Alhajj Md. Aiyub Chowdhury addressed the program from among the local elites.

Engr. Muhammad Dawood Khan in his speech as Chief Guest said, Allah has allowed business and banned interest. IBBL was established in 1983 to fulfill this order and has been trying to free the nation from the interest based economy. He said, IBBL has gained the top position in banking sector of the country in deposit, investment, foreign trade and remittance for the faith of the people of this country. IBBL has been earning 27 percent of the total remittance of the country which is a reflection of faith of the people. This Bank has established largest online network through its own softwere when other Banks are looking for foreign software. Most of the brances of the Bank is now under online network which is a success of this Bank.

He said, instead of being a financial institution IBBL has been conducting social activities. He said, IBBL has been conducting different activities for poverty alleviation beside social activities through Islami Bank Hospital, Islami Bank Medical College and different service oriented activities. He called upon the businessmen, clients and well wishers to come towards Islamic economic system and to receive welfare based services of IBBL.

Md. Abdul Mannan, Deputy Managing Director of the Bank in his Presidential speech said, relationship of people with IBBL is the relationship of Partnership. The officers and employees of this Bank has been trying to affirm this relationship. The service of this Bank is open for all irrespective of rich or poor. It is possible to be a client of this Bank with only Tk-100. We have been giving investment in all tyres of the society to implement the order of Allah (SWT) to circulate wealth in all tyres. At the same time we have invested in large industries of the country.

He said, Islamic Economy is the greatest in the world which has already been proved through the collapse of interest based economy. IBBL is considered as a model Bank across the world. People of different place are taking help from this Bank while establishing Islami Banks in different parts of the world. Recently executives of Bank of Ceylon of Sreelanka and Jaiz Bank International of Nigeria (proposed) have received training from this Bank. This is the matter of pride for the people of this country.

Seminar on Islamic Economics and Banking

On the occasion of inauguration of Raojan Branch as the 210th branch of the Bank a Seminar on Islamic Economics and Banking was organized on Saturday, 21 November, 2009 at the Branch premises. Moulana Abu Bakkar Mohammad Siddikullah, Khatib of Central Mosque Chittagong University addressed the Seminar as Chief discussant. Presided over by Md. Abdul Mannan, Deputy Managing Director & Head of Investment Wing of the Bank, the seminar was addressed by Mufti Shamsuddin( Zia), Member of Shariah Council of the Bank and Muhaddith of Al-Jamiatul Islamia, Patiya, Chittagong. Abul Hossain, Executive Vice President and Head of Chittagong Zone of the Bank delivered welcome speech in the Seminar.
