Motijheel Branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited was inaugurated at Motijheel, Dhaka on Sunday, November 08, 2009. Shah Abdul Hannan, former Secretary and former Chairman, Board of Directors of IBBL inaugurated the branch as Chief Guest. Presided over by Prof. Abu Nasser Muhammad Abduz Zaher, Chairman, Board of Directors of the Bank, the program was attended by Mohammad Raqibur Rahman, President, Md. Sakil Rizvee, Vice President of Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd., Md. Mokbul Ahmed Akand, Commissioner of ward-32 of Dhaka City Corporation as Special Guests and the program was addressed by M. Fariduddin Ahmad, Managing Director and Md. Najibur Rahman, Executive Vice President & Head of Dhaka South Zone of the Bank.

Shah Abdul Hannan in his speech as Chief Guest said, economic recession and collapse have been caused due to absolute control of wealth in hands of wealthy persons or institutions, want of value and accumulation of wealth and as a result of interest based economy. But there is no impact of the recession on Islamic financial institutions because of no such scope. Islamic economic system is today established truth.

He called upon the businessmen, clients and well wishers to come towards Islamic economic system and to receive welfare based services of IBBL.

Prof. Abu Nasser Mohammad Abduz Zaher in his Presidential speech said, IBBL has been working for the welfare of the people of this country from its very inception in 1983. The Bank has been working for the economic emancipation of the 15 crore people of this country, for which, this Bank has been getting allout support of all the Governments from the beginning. Getting support of all the people. So IBBL is today the Bank of 15 crore people. Islami Bank has become My Bank to every people of the country.

He said, IBBL has become the number one bank of the country. At the same time, this Bank is counted as a model bank in global context. Officials of different banks of the world are coming to receive training to this bank with advice of the IDB which is glorious and a matter of honor of the country.

He said, IBBL has been extending investment in different sector and working for poverty alleviation. The Bank has been creating new entrepreneurs and scope of new jobs. He said, the Bank will soon introduce new services and create new job scopes.

M. Fariduddin Ahmad in his welcome speech, called upon the depositors and investment clients to acquire proper information about Islamic Banking and do Shari`ah based Banking. He sought help from the clients for this purpose.

Seminar on Islamic Economics and Banking

On the occasion of inauguration of Motijheel Branch as the 208th branch of the Bank a Seminar on Islamic Economics and Banking was organized on Saturday, 7 November, 2009 at the WAPDA Auditorium, Motijheel. M. Azizul Haque, former Executive President of IBBL addressed the Seminar as Chief discussant. Presided over by M. Fariduddin Ahmad, Managing Director of the Bank, the seminar was addressed by Dr. Monzoor-e-Elahi, Member of Shariah Council of the Bank and Assistant Professor of National University, Moulana Rafique Ahmed, former Imam of Baitul Mokarram National Mosque and Moulana Md. Abdul Hakim, Khatib of Gopibagh Zame Mosque.
