Khagrachhari Branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited was inaugurated as its 198th Branch on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Mini Super Market, Bazar Shahi Jame Masjid Road, Khagrachhari. Ruithi Karbari, Chairman, Hilltract District Council of Khagrachhari inaugurated the Branch as Chief Guest. Presided over by Moulana Zainul Abedin, Vice Chairman, Board of Directors, M. Fariduddin Ahmad, Managing Director & Abul Hossain, Executive Vice President and Head of Chittagong Zone of the Bank. The meeting was addressed among others from well-wishers & customers, Animesh Dewan, Member of Khagrachhari Hilltract District Council, Mohammad Selim, Secretary of Baitus Sharaf, Khagrachhari and Member of Khagrachhari Chamber of Commerce, Abu Bakkar Siddik, Member of Khagrachhari District Council, Mohammad Fazlul Haque, President of Bazar Businessmen Association and Mohammad Nazir Ahmed, Secretary of Mini Super Market.

Ruithi Karbari in his speech said, IBBL, a leading bank in private sector, has fulfilled the long cherished expectations of the people of this remote and neglected locality by opening its branch in Khagrachhari. He thanked IBBL authorities for operating branch in Khagrachhari and claimed that his efforts for opening branch of IBBL has been succeeded. He praised the developed customer service of the Bank and commented that people of Khagrachhari, specially the business society will be beneficiary from through this Bank.

Seminar on Islamic Economics and Banking

On the occasion of inauguration of Khagrachhari Branch of the Bank a Seminar on Islamic Economics and Banking was organized at the Bank premises on Saturday, 06 June, 2009. Alhaz Hazrat Moulana Mohammad Qutubuddin, Chairman of Shariah Council of IBBL and Chairman of Baitus Sharaf Anzumane Ittehad addressed the Seminar as Chief discussant. Presided Over by M. Fariduddin Ahmad, Managing Director of the Bank, the seminar was addressed among others by Moulana Mohammad Nurul Islam, Khatib of Central Baitus Sharaf at Dhaliapara, Chittagong, Hafez Moulana Mohammad Habibullah Zahangir, Khatib of Khagrachhari Court Jame Masjid, Hafez Moulana Mohammad Nurul Islam, Khatib of Bazar Shahi Jame Masjid and Moulana Mohammad Abu Osman, Superintendent of Baitus Sharaf Complex, Khagraccari.
