Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited awarded prizes to the students achieving the highest positions in Banking Department of Dhaka University and in Finance & Banking Department of International Islamic University Chittagong and Manarat International University and the meritorious wards of the officers and Staff of the Bank on March 28, 2009, Saturday at Hotel Purbani International. Commodore M. Ataur Raman(Rtd.), former Chairman, Board of Directors of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited distributed the prizes as the Chief Guest. Presided over by Prof. Abu Nasser Muhammad Abduz Zaher, Chairman, Board of Directors the function was attended among others by Dr. Mohammad Abdur Rob, Vice Chancellor of Manarat International University & Professor Mohammad Muzahidul Islam, Chairman, Banking Department of Dhaka University as Special Guests. M. Fariduddin Ahamad, Managing Director delivered the welcome speech & Hasibul Alam Chowdhury of Dhaka University addressed the function from among the prize recipients. Principal Moulana Zainul Abedin, Vice Chairman, Board of Directors of the Bank conducted the Munajat.

In the function, 10 students scoring the highest marks in the final M.B.A. in banking exam held in 2007 from Dhaka University in Banking Department and from Islamic University Chittagong and Manarat University in Banking along with Islamic Finance have been awarded. Besides, 234 brilliant students of SSC and HSC level who are wards of the officers and staff of the Bank were also awarded in the function.

Commodore M Ataur Rahman (Rtd.) in his speech as the Chief Guest said that practice of knowledge direct people towards development. We have to go forward in research of Science and Knowledge if we want to present us as a qualified nation before the world. The young generation has to play vital role for this.

Prof. Abu Nasser Mohammad Abduz Zaher in his presidential speech said, education brings us towards advancement. Understanding the reality Islami Bank has invested in education sector from the beginning by helping the students through giving scholarship to poor and meritorious students. Our effort will be continue Inshallah.

He said, educated young generation is the real asset of the country. We have to build up them capable to work and skilled through proper training. Islami Bank is the number one Bank of the country. People of the country irrespective of religion, color, cast and creed are working with this Bank. We also don’t understand class discrimination. The door of Islami Bank is open for all. All our effort and labor will be dedicated for the national flag and 15 crore people of the country

Dr. Mohammad Abdur Rob said, this prize of Islami Bank will inspire the meritorious students in their learning. No country can plan of financial development without development of education. The overall development of a country is possible only by developing education

Professor Muhammad Muzahidul Islam said, our students are our glory. This courageous young generation is our valuable asset. We have to present the national history, culture and ideology before them.

Managing Director M. Fariduddin Ahmad said, the aim of the Bank is to present Islami Bank through it`s service in such a way that mass people can realize that Islmai Bank is `My Bank’. And it is the Bank of general people and Bank of all. Islami Bank is working for this. And this scholarship program is the part of that effort.
