A Certificate Awarding ceremony for the trained distressed women organised by Distressed Women Rehabilitation Centre, a project of Islami Bank Foundation was held on 24 July, 2002 Wednesday at the premises of the centre at 27, Mollika Housing Society, Mirpur, Section-7, Dhaka.. Mr. Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujaheed, Minister for Social Welfare distributed certificates as the Chief Guest among 14 trained distressed women. Mrs. Tamanna-e-Jahan was present in the function as Special Guest. Presided over by Mr. Shah Abdul Hannan, Chairman, Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited & Islami Bank Foundation, the function was addressed among others by Mr. Nazir Ahmed, Director of the Bank & Chairman, Social Rehabilitation Implementation Committee of Islami Bank Foundation, Mr. Abdur Raquib, Executive President of the Bank, Mrs. Tahjiba Khatun, Incharge, Distressed Women Rehabilitation Centre and Mrs. Farhana Akhter, trainee. Mr. Mir Quasem Ali, Vice Chairman, Board of Directors of the Bank & Member Secretary, Islami Bank Foundation was also present in the function. Later at the evening a cultural function was held.

Mr. Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujaheed said in his speech, as the Chief Guest, that the rehabilitation program of Islami Bank Foundation for distressed, helpless and shelter less women is praiseworthy. He said that the present social instability may be reduced if persons and institutions take such program with the inspiration of social and moral responsibility. In this respect he pointed out different programs of Social Welfare Ministry for the betterment of distressed people.

Islami Bank Foundation, a subsidiary organisation of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited has established the Distressed Women Rehabilitation Centre for rehabilitation of the helpless, distressed, divorcee, widow and oppressed women. The Centre gives shelter to distressed and shelterless women and rehabilitates them through different training programs. The Centre conducts different programs including education program, training program, financial program and rehabilitation program.
